I agree with Ruth. Rather disconcerting to have someone who has worked in radio since the 1970s to seem oblivious of the BBC and to have made such sweeping inaccurate remarks regarding radio drama.

Otherwise, an enjoyable interview.

Adam:

I enjoyed your interview with Leo. One thought for both of you is that Intel is a company that makes more than one kind of chip. Obviously, a vast majority of Intel's current revenue comes from the x86 line of CISC (complex instruction set computing), they also produce a line of RISC (reduced instruction set computing) chips with architectures that are very similar to the PowerPC.

More than 10 years ago, Intel had an internal struggle over future technical direction and almost switched to RISC chips. One of the things that held them back then was their close tie to MS and its operating system with a huge desire for "backward compatibility."

They continued to manufacture RISC chips for other applications, however, and seem to have gotten pretty good at it. With a new customer like Apple, they might have a new opportunity to diversify their chip production.

I wrote an article for my blog developing this idea a little more fully.

I would be interested in your thoughts.

Another great show Adam. The MacCast is on 'high rotation' in my podcasts.

I think I will be throwing out my radios before the year is over.

Great inteview, but as the sound quality of podcasts gets better - as people take more care in recording them - I just find it hard to listen to a 1 hour long inteview at this quality. Sounds like it was on the telephone ? Is there a better way of doing inteviews ?

Once again a great interview, and I like many others relish all the episodes you put out.

I'd like to second the request for Dvorak next,... someone else I think a lot of.

I think Leo was right - podcasting really is a revolution. Is this an end to style over substance?

We know what's important, and it's not what the advertisers tell us.

I see and hear Leo alot these days via his podcasts and Call for Help in Canada, but I only just became aware of him when I subscribed to G4 Tech TV Canada in January.

Your interview was great to listen to as it gave some insight into what he is like when he isn't hosting something.

I believe I heard Amber plug the Maccast on Call for Help this week.

Keep it up Adam!

Wow,

Great interview with Leo. I have been following Leo for years and heard many interviews with him, but you managed to glean from him new and interesting information. Nice progression of questions during the interview. My favorite moment must have been a slip on Leo's part when he mentioned that his new IPTV show would be called "Maccast." You did an audio "double-take" when he said this, and he quickly made the change. You have a real nack for this interview thing. We all want to see more!!!

What can I say that hasn't already been said!

Excellent show dude - Leo is my favorite tech dude for industry news and commentary (with you as a close second). I know I'll be tivo'ing Call for Help on G4 when it airs. Leo's got to be laughing all the way to the bank on this.

Adam,

This was by far the best podcast I have listened to - period.

You and Leo make a great podcasting team. Great chemistry. Everything was upbeat and interesting. I am usually prepared to yawn through most of the podcasts I listen to (like sifting through a barrel full of dirt to find one or two tiny gold nuggets of info), but this was great! You and Leo had my undivided attention the entire time!

Thanks for the excellent episode! Thanks to Leo Laporte too!!! What a cool guy - quite intelligent, too!

I'll throw in my kudos as well. I really enjoyed this podcast. It may not be a stretch to say it was the best single episode of any podcast I have ever listened to.

Adam, the Maccast is getting better every week. Keep up the fantastic work.

I particularly like your innovation where you ask your guest what software they find most useful. There are some really neat thoughts expounded during that segment.

It may just be me, but I don't like the whole "How did you get started in computers/Macs?" section of interviews. I heard the same story, "I had a computer with a 2" screen, 16 bits of memory, a one-key keyboard and we typed in Morse code . . . and it cost $8 million" over and over again.

He really muddied the water when it comes to the OS X on generic PC debate. His assertion that zillions of people will buy Intel-based Macs to run Windows on renders our debate on the topic somewhat less relevant. (Tying in with that Steve Jobs "this could be a business" theme, providing tech support for Windows on Mac boxes could be a business since Apple doesn't want to do that. Just prepare to close up shop when Apple changes its mind.)

Since PCMag just announced that Apple has by far the best quality hardware as determined by a reader survey, this theory may be viable. How would you, my fellow Mac geeks, feel about people running Windows on Macs? It would be great for the company, but I'd find it a bit sad. I might just have to change my nickname to macOSXFanDave to make my true belief known.

I like that Leo is a historian. While he mentioned that podcasting is storytelling, I would like to add that storytelling predates the written word.

Good job, Adam, you're a very good interviewer.

Adam,

I've been following Leo since he was the off-camera man behind Dev Null. I learned more about Leo in your interview than any other forum with Leo in all of those years.

WHATTA GREAT JOB you did! DO MORE interviews! See if you can get some time with Woz and other Apple and tech legends.

BTW, it was from Leo that I first heard the word "podcast." He interviewed Adam Curry in 2004. I thought it was something you needed an iPod for so it was "owell." Now I have the Mac and a podcast, but still no iPod. I'll probably break down and get a future generation.
