Really entertaining podcast, as always Adam. Here’s wishing you a very happy 100th show, too – congratulations. You’ve given a lot of people, myself included, many a happy half hour (or, if we’re lucky, a little more) with your entertaining, interesting and informative discussions. Keep at it; in only 10 years you’ll be adding another zero!

I recently upgraded to QT 7 Pro for PC, and it’s most definitely worth it. Everyone should get it.

Grr! Frappr isn’t accepting my zip code for some reason. It keeps telling me it’s invalid, and I’m pretty darn sure that the zipcode I use to receive mail is valid.

MacCast is the best podcast (well, its up there with twit).

Love the show. I have a tech question that may be a bit out of line but I’ll ask it anyway. I accidently “erased” the contents of my external HD. (selected all and deleted). Is there any way to recover the data? I know it’s still there I just don’t know how to access it. Thanks!

Yes, Maccast is up there with TWIT and the other revision3 shows on my listening list. I have unsubscribed to many podcasts due to lack of time, but I keep Maccast as my only mac podcast on my list. Happy 100th Adam.

10.4.3 rocks! More specifically I can now teather my iBook to my PPC 6700 via Bluetooth so I can use Sprint’s Vision EVDO service! w00t w00t!

    Per request:

10.4.3 fixed a few issues that I immediately noticed.

    1. Spotlight got a speed boost (as advertised) and no longer tries to re-index my external hard drive every time I do a search.

    2. An issue with putting my Dual 2.3 to sleep has been fixed. Pre 10.4.3 the system would hang every time the computer came back from sleep. I couldn’t figure what was wrong. I reset the NVRAM/PRAM, reset the power-saving options, deleted pref files, re-installed the OS and tried every combination of hardware I could but nothing changed the issue.
    Now sleep works just fine.

    3. Previously rsync –delete command would not delete files from the destination directory. It works jim-dandy now.

I would give the iTunes video sales a little more time before declaring a roaring success. I bet the bulk of those million downloads are people and press trying it out for the first time, and it remains to be seen what the steady state rate will be.

My G4 iBook lost the ability to go to sleep when idle. I think
it started with an iTunes upgrade. Energy saver preferences
all seemed to be set ok.

The 10.4.3 automagically fixed this. My iBook goes to sleep
now without having to close the cover. The preferences
remained unchanged but sleep now works. All is well again.

As far as buying Apple care for your iPod, why not just buy your iPod from Costco? When buying it from Costco, you have a lifetime warranty that will take care of anything going wrong with your iPod. They will let you return it and get it a new one with no questions.

I feel really sorry for Creative Labs, because of the iPod competition Creative Labs has been forced to make some of the best MP3 on the market.

I guess their software isn’t the best… If iTunes only worked with other MP3 players. Oh well such is competition.

Adam – Best to you and the forthcoming 100. Have been a regular listener since first finding your show via iTunes podcasts.

Your enthusiasm for “everything Mac”, and your ability to demystify often arcane technical issues keep me a devoted listener.

    warm regards,
    BruceG
