Regarding the Front Row video issues, the problem also manifests itself when dragging any of the supplied Big Bang games across the screen as well. I spoke to an Apple product specialist about the problem, and he indicated that the problem seemed to affect OS X build 8G1171, and is sending me a newer build of the operating system, which he suspects will resolve the issue.

    Keep up the great podcast!

As a former NY’er who spent a number of years working in IT down on Wall St. I question the need for this. Ok, so SoHo is a very artsy area and I’m sure most people around are Mac users, but 24/7 even in the city that never sleeps?

I don’t know, I guess there’s a driving need to run out and pickup a firewire cable right after performing at a bar on Bleeker Street or someone needs the updated version of Garageband at 2am.

Today certainly isn’t the day to be open… it snowed 24+ inches in Central Park over the weekend. Makes me glad to be in Sunny Southern Cal.

I’ve been promoting a full-screen video iPod for 2 years, although I think a touch screen is a mistake for reasons you mention in the show.

    Adam,
You may be interested in knowing that Lincoln also had something to say about your quote:

    Hi Adam,

The issue with the video glitch in OS X build 8G1171 is a sign that there is a glitch in the Matrix, and the Agents are coming for you! We are all duracell batteries!

    Adam;

I was listening to your comments on Mac security today.

One other tip, which is what I do and have now trained my family to do.

When you walk away from your Mac, either for 5 minutes or 5 hours ( whatever) I just go up to the menu bar and turn airport off.

Likewise the Wintel box we have in our house, when it is not “in use” – we turn off the wireless connection.

One more thing that helps to keep your machine secure.

    Hi Adam,

Regarding the .tivo wrapper for MPEG-2, have you tried running the recording through File Juicer?

FJ is a tool that searches through entire files and extracts many types of media stored within. For instance, you can use it to ‘juice’ the bitmaps and sounds out of a Flash movie.

I haven’t tried it on a .tivo file, but if it’s just a wrapper for MPEG-2 you may have some luck in pulling it out this way.

Installing OS X 10.4.5 has corrected the intel iMac + FrontRow issues for me.

After listening to the latest podcast, I rushed home after work to install tivo desktop on my imag g5. However, my tivo doesn’t seem to find it…had the same “please reinstall”, but it actually shows up in preferences.

Can anyone else actually access their itunes library from their tivo in Tiger?

TiVo Desktop was updated for Tiger yesterday.

Regarding Galleon – I was interested to hear about Galleon and just went to download it but I just found this post from it’s creator Leon saying he’s stopping development of it. :(

I have been running Tivo Desktop under Tiger for several months now and can see my iphoto library and the MP3 files in my itunes library (no AAC files, though) on my TiVo. Make sure you turn Tivo Desktop on in System prefences.
