Use a smaller number of seconds if you want to see pageout activity over a shorter interval. vm_stat 5 # 5 second interval vm_stat 10 # 10 second interval etc... In addition to getting the perspective of a team member who has really dug deep into an app, I find that when I listen to podcasts at work, I tend to absorb more information with an interview format than I do with a monologue. 2) One theory about why people suffer in silence with faulty iPods isn't Apple-love, but guilt. I'd bet that some of them may have material on their iPods that they wouldn't want Apple to know about. At work, I had downloaded several free apps (like iTunes) to my PC in violation of our corporate policy. When my system started dragging, I just sucked it up rather than fessing up to the thugs in IT. Finally, I decided to get rid of these apps (regardless that some were far better than Notepad) before I went to complain to IT. 3) And now a question: should I get an Apple Cinema Display? I was considering a 20" ACD at about $699 and could probably suck up about a $100 "tax" to avoid buying a non-Apple monitor, but I see Samsungs and NECs for more than $200 less! The cool factor of the stand and single wire don't really stack up to $200 for me, so should I just go with a third-party monitor?
