I found what Hans found, exact same drive and specs for the same price (after you tack on shipping at the macsales site it’s also $139)

Yeah, I don’t see this deal on the web site. I’ve had Maxtor drives before with no failures. Can I put this SATA drive in the iMac Intel Core Duo?

In general, I too am a fan of OWC, but if you look carefully, you can find where they are making up for the sale. For anything that is not a special, they tend to be slightly to significantly over-priced.

Just a word of warning to anyone thinking about maximizing their shipping costs when getting this awesomely priced drive.

Now to scrounge up $270 for a set. I’d love to have a terabyte in my tower.

As tempting as this is, I had 5 Maxtor Drives (out of 5) go bad on me from 1999 to 2002. Never again. Made me do regular backups though (;
I’ve had 12 WD drives (from 2001 till now) and never had one go bad.
I’ve also had 4 Hitachi/IBM drives with good results too.
Sorry but I’ll pass.

I do not see this price on the OWC site. Is it a special offer not regularly listed? And into which Mac models would this fit?

Yeah, I have heard BAD things about Maxtor… but a brand new line of drives, manufactured under the supervision of Seagate and backed by Seagate? I am seriously considering one.

Be wary. Maxtor traditionally sucks. My uncle used to work for them and told me the quality and facilities were second rate. Maybe things have changed since they were bought up by Seagate.
