Lesson #2 just learned: don't add a period at the end of a URL when posting in the comments as it gets treated as part of the URL, and the address still won't work. One final time to give you a working link: http://web.mac.com/lucasjwall/iWeb/LTT

I was going to say that saving PDFs to web receipts folder is a very nice feature, but you don't have the option to give a name to the file you are saving. Then I read comment #11 above, which is even a more serious problem. I think I may have overwritten one file already.

I tried the link included in comment #11 to read the two fixes, but I got an error message in four different languages; the English one said: The requested URL was not found on this server.

Another comment about the last episode is to use the hot keys [command + option + escape] pressed at the same time to do a Force Quit when the drop down menues don't work, to avoid having to restart your Mac by turning off the power. Hope this helps.

CORRECTION! Data loss!

The Print PDF to Web Receipts Folder tip is very handy and I've been using it a long time. But PLEASE NOTE: you can overwrite older files using this. Macosxhints.com had a post about overwriting older files when web pages have the same title (like if you buy from the same store multiple times) back in February. There are two fixes to this problem that I noted on my tips page at http://web.mac.com/lucasjwall/iWeb/LTT/Home/D4A21F23-6CE8-4D86-BF71-9CDE2BE86763.html.

Hi Adam,

here's Mikkael from Dusseldorf, Germany. I love the Maccast and listen to every episode as soon as it's online.

Here is my issue concerning the last maccast:

I have been looking for an information (document) management app, something like Yojimbo or Devonthink, which I already tried. The one I am looking for should be a specialist more on the PDF side, as I have been digitalizing daily documents (notes, letters, memos etc) in the office using Fujitsu's ScanSnap (which is absolutely great) and then using Acrobat to keyword (and OCR) the PDFs. So here is my problem: too many PDFs.

You mentioned on the show, that there were many great apps which do manage PDF-Files. I need fast previews, katalogues, fast text-search options for content and keywords etc on the PDF-Files.

I read a short review on arsTechnica about a Software called "Papers" from Alexander Griekspoor and Tom Groothuis, which sounds pretty scientific, but almost on the right track for me.

What would you (and the maccast) community recommend?

Best regards from rainy Dusseldorf!

Thank you for another good show Adam. Just a couple of things I'd like to follow up on.

First, I like to use the Keyboard Viewer as a way to see what characters will be typed when I press a certain key combination, like accents, for example. You enable it from the same menu as the Character Palette, in the International preference pane. When it's open you can try holding down each modifier key, like option, to see what character that combination will type when pressed with another key (Option-Shift-k gives you the Apple logo, for example!). Those keys that will produce an accent show up in orange. Hope that's useful to someone!

An further to what others have said, there's no reason (except precedent) why Apple couldn't have 10.4.10. These numbers aren't decimals anyway (you cam't have more than one decimal point), so there would be no logical problem. It's just no version of OS X has gone that high before.

Thanks again, W.

Beside the Roman numeral X (10.4.X),
hexadecimal numbering is a possibility as well: 10.4.A, although most tech illiterate might not understand the latter.

@Mike Pictor: You can buy the CD "with all due respect" from their website with PayPal (see Music section)

As to the comment about further updates to 10.4... You said something like "would they release 10.4.9.1?" (or something). Um, why not simply release 10.4.10?

On deleting to the right on a Mac.

Few people seem to remember the grand-daddy of them all still works like a charm and is right there at your fingertips when typing.

Try it you'll like it.

Nice overview of the 10.4.9. Thanks, Adam.

The OS X update....
...Seems okay so far - Under 10.4.9 iSync supports more mobile devices and NovaMedia plug-ins are no longer needed for many units in the Nokia lineup. Our N80 and N70 synced well after a couple tries once we removed the phone plugins folder from the library.

Can't wait to see what else will be good and a 'little off' all at the same time!

Thanks for another great 'cast.

LOVE the song!

That's the first song at the end of maccast that excited me enough to go research the band info.

Do you know of a DRM free source to buy the material? I don't buy from iTunes on principle, but that is material I would probably buy.
