I, like Lenn, can’t get the Dashboard suggestion to work. I would like to use some of my Widgets on the Desktop. Is there something missing in the instructions? I am on a MacBook Pro with 10.5.1.

Hey, cool. I love Admiral Twin, and their Christmas tracks are my all time favorite Christmas songs. Their non Christmas music is great too.

After several dark years I am a Mac user again, and your podcast will help with my learning curve.

I really enjoyed the “Twas the Night Before Macmas” reading……I tried to find an already typed out version but no luck. Do know where one can be found?

A real question: Has anyone found a way to make iWeb only “publish to folder” what you have just done rather than the whole site? That whole site publish pretty much renders iEasy Web and other FTP programs feature of looking for only updated/new files useless since they ALL get updated in iWeb’s “publish to folder.” RapidWeaver has a nice feature of “publishing changes” along with “publish folder” which makes the uploads MUCH faster! I wish iWeb could do the same. Thanks from Atlanta.

Hey Adam, thanks for the show, and especially the tips! I found out you can change the login desktop image in Tiger also, but the file to replace is ~/Library/Desktop Pictures/Aqua Blue.jpg.

Thanks for doing an enhanced podcast. I just bought an iPod Touch (I had a Nano before) and having the chapters and artwork is really nice on this iPod. Keep up the good work.

You still sounded a bit tired, Adam. Please, take good care of yourself. We don’t want some other bug to get back at you, because you didn’t take enough time to recover.

I loved the part about MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL, PHP), to develop a local version of an online application. I wasn’t aware of a packaged solution for LAMP on the Mac (LAMP is the Linux counterpart of MAMP).

You want your online applications to run on the latest versions of Apache, MySQL and PHP, for security reasons, and, therefore, you can’t rely on what Apple supplied at the release of the OS. It’s good enough for a local machine, but not for an online service, on which malicious people are banging on your code and looking for security holes constantly.

I would not recommend to use Apple’s AMP distribution if you’re planning to run your Mac as a web server, even if you can get around your ISP blocking standard ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS).

Great show I look forward to hearing them all and for someone that was just sick you sounded good. I too have been enjoying Time Machine but I have noticed my harddrive starting to get taken down but mine is just the case of using the program. I have a 300 GIG harddrive split in half is there anyway when I want and it gets to be that time that I combine the two partitioned drives and make it one 300 gig one again and still keep all the previous back up from time machine? I just figured I would have to start from scratch again.

Keep up the podcasting and you have a listener in MN that loves it!

I can’t get the widget suggestion you mentioned to work. I activate dashboard and click and hold on a widget. Then deactivate dashboard. The widget doesn’t move to the desktop. Have tried a few different widgets. Still nothing. Am using 10.5.1 on an iMac Core Duo.
