Unannounced new iPhone 2.0 feature for iPhone!

In iPod mode you can now watch video podcast in vertical or letter mode. The screen is cropped and maybe squesed a bit. Very cool.

That guy in line that Adam interviewed for the podcast was lamenting selling his iPhone 2G one month ago, saying that only existing iPhone customers get the 3G iPhone for $199 and that others have to pay full price. What the heck is he talking about? Everyone can buy it for $199, right?

My understanding is that either current iPhone owners or first time buyers can select either the $199 8gig or $299 16 gig once they sign a 2 yr. contract with AT&T.
My understanding, also, is that AT&T will sell you an unlocked iPhone3G for a couple of hundred dollars more.

    Good show, thanks Adam.

The only thing is that you didn’t seem to pay to much attention to the stock shortage… Not only in the UK, but everywhere in Europe, there is NO IPHONE 3G FOR SALE. No one has stock (Austria, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, French is not even launched yet) and the waiting lists are getting bigger and bigger… this is what i call a very bad launch in terms of Apple’s image here.
Personally, they told me today that i will have to wait A MONTH before getting mine… i’m nb 100 in the list and they get 20 phones per week! and that’s the biggest phone company in the country!

    regards,
    k
