A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 045. My new Apple TV arrived today, but prior to it’s arrival I had more than one person ask why I would possibly want a new Apple TV. Since they asked I figure you may wondering the same thing too. Here my reasons for making the purchase and why I think I’m gonna love the new Apple TV.

I’ve had an AppleTV for about 3 years – and I’m excited about this new one except I think I’m going to miss a little bit of synching…

We have a MacMini as our media server. It is located in our bedroom and it is connected to our TV. The AppleTV is in the living room, and the AppleTV feeds off of our MacMini.

Now, granted, this happens few and far between – but what if someone wants to watch something off of iTunes in the bedroom and someone wants to stream a show to the AppleTV in the family room? From my few experiences, this doesn’t work. So, to get around this, I synch the shows/movies to the AppleTV that they want to watch, so that avoids the conflict.

Yes, that other person in the living room is usually my daughter who wants to watch her favorite Elmo episode… so our entire Sesame Street collection is always synched to the AppleTV!

    Love the show!
