I heard you talking about Insteon home control equipment, but you seem to be ignoring a fine (if more expensive) HomeKit compatible solution – and that is Lutron Caseta HomeKit compatible devices.

Unlike Insteon’s pathetic HomeKit compatible control hub, the Caseta hub actually works, Caseta has lighting switches you can use both in-wall and at the outlet, with the ability to use a Pico remote switch to control an outlet switch (or an in-wall switch to produce 3-way-like comparability.

In addition Caseta has never had bad switches which means that if you buy a switch you don’t have to worry about weather you’re getting old stock.

    Thanks for listening,
    Verne

@Vern, I wasn’t really “ignoring” Lutron I just don’t have any personal experience with it. Thanks for letting us know it’s good. I’ve had few issues with my Insteon Hub after recent updates (FWIW).

I enjoyed your backup solutions segment in this episode and was wondering what your thoughts are on the time capsule because you had mentioned time machine only using a personal external hard drive? Would time capsule deliver the same solution since it is storage over the network? I am currently intersted in the airport extreme and also looking at the time capsule 3tb but haven’t been able to decide which one to get. By the way the latest models for both came out in 2013 I feel like were due for a refresh anytime now…
