Hey Adam, thanks for responding to my question/issue with the Apple Smart Keyboard and my iPad Pro. I ended up taking it in to my local Apple Store over the weekend and was served pretty much immediately as a walk-in. The Genius tested it out confirmed the issues I was having and ordered a new one for me which is supposed to arrive in the next couple of days. Great service – the only thing that could have been better would have been if they just would have handed me a new one on the spot without me having to make another trip down to the store next weekend. Per your response and a number of the forums, this appears to be a recurring problem even after the keyboards get replaced – I hope that your hypothesis that this is a software issue is correct and that a fix gets issued soon!

Thanks for all of the great work on the MacCast!

Hi Adam,I have been having the same issue with the iPad Pro keyboard disconnecting. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) with the UAG METROPOLIS SERIES IPAD PRO case attached to the back with the iPad Pro keyboard on the front. I was thinking that the case might have been interfering with the iPad Pro keyboard connection. I found that this problem occurs very frequently with the case on but rarely occurs (if ever) with the case off. I think that the UAG case lifts up the iPad from the keyboard so it is more likely to disconnect when the iPad screen is touched. I think this is a software problem. If the keyboard is detached and reattached very quickly the keyboard is not handling the error properly.

I have been listening to you podcast for several now. Thanks for a great show.
