wedge No Satellite Radio for iPod

* Mel Karmazin, CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio, said he recently spoke with Apple CEO Steve Jobs about adding satellite radio to the iPod, but that there is no plan for such a partnership.

"I've spoken to Steve Jobs," Karmazin said Wednesday at a media conference in New York. He declined to elaborate, other than to say that the "current thinking" at Apple is that "they don't need to put a satellite radio in their box."

wedge iTunes Grammy Tie-in will Benefit Tsunami Relief

* The Recording Academy has announced plans to feature a special fund-raising performance of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's "Across the Universe" during this year's telecast of the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, which will air on CBS on February 13, 2005. A recording of that live performance will be available for purchase from Apple's iTunes Music Store for US$0.99 -- all proceeds from downloads of the track will go to relief efforts benefitting survivors of December's Asian tsunami.

wedge Yellow Dog Linux Updated. Includes Mac Mini Support

* Terra Soft Solutions Inc. announced Wednesday that its PowerPC-based Linux implementation, Yellow Dog Linux, now supports the Mac mini and iMac G5. More than 70 updates have been made to this version 4.0.1 release, including the return of sleep and audio to pre-G5 systems, thermal support for G5s and much more. Security updates have been made, installer bugs have been fixed, and USB audio device support has been added as well.
