* OS X 10.4.2 delivers bug fixes to the following areas of the Tiger system: file sharing using AFP and SMB/CIFS network file services; single sign-on authentication and reliable access to Active Directory servers; autologin for managed user accounts; AirPort and wireless access; and synchronizing your iDisk with .Mac

* Improvements to Address Book, Automator, iCal, iChat, Mail, Safari, Stickies, the Finder, installation reliability, Core Graphics, Core Audio, Core Image, and ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers.

* Widget Manager. Can disable and remove widgets.

* There was also an update to iSync 2.1

wedge ArsTechnica claims to know real reason forApple's Intel switch

wedge Claims Apple makes it hard for chip vendors to deal with them, and supply issues are caused by Apple not the vendor

* Ask for custom chips and then only order minimal initial (launch) quantities.

wedge Changing your home folder name in OS X

* Listener Ben changed his home folder name and it caused issues on his Mac

* If you change the file name of your Home folder while using your account, it will immediately appear as if all of your preferences, Mail, Address Book contacts, iCal calendars, iPhoto pictures, iTunes music, Dock customization, and other items have either vanished or been reset to default values.
