As a certain MCU anti-hero once said Holly S-balls!
Rogue Amoeba Software is celebrating their 20th anniversary! And you get the gift.
I can’t believe it’s been 20 years… especially since I’m pretty sure I’ve been using the products for that long. Am I that old?
If you're a podcaster, musician, or just someone who just listens to audio on their Mac, Rogue Amoeba can make your life better! Whatever you want to do with audio, it's a very good bet they have a tool to help you.
As a podcaster I would be lost without Audio Hijack. It’s what everyone I know relies on to record audio from any source. Best way to conduct interviews via Discord, Zoom, Skype, whatever.
And Fission, their amazing lossless audio editor, is how I put the chapters in to “enhance” all the Maccast episodes. Plus there’s Loopback to do powerful audio routing, without needing cables or mixers. And SoundSource is the sound control that should be built into MacOS.
Rogue Amoeba doesn't run constant gimmicky sales or discounts. They charge fair prices, all the time. But! In celebration of their anniversary, they're making an exception. For a very limited time, to celebrate their 20 years in business you can get 20% off any purchase from Rogue Amoeba.
You don't need any coupon codes or special URLs. Just visit MacAudio.com before the end of September to save 20% on anything they make. Download free trials, then buy online to receive the discounted price.
Congratulations to Rogue Amoeba on 20 great years! Visit them at MacAudio.com.

Consumersr seem to want the Pro
At least at present
Ming-Chi Kuo says that the iPhone 14 Pro models will make up 60-65% of the total iPhone 14 shipments in the second half of 2022
Because of this he is expecting Apple to alter the supply and order more Pro models while reducing shipments of the non-Pro versions
He’s estimating an increase of about 10 percent in production
For the future display Analyst Ross Young thinks Dynamic Island is the future of iPhones and will be “on standard models on the 15”
But at the same time he believes features like the always on display and 120Hz ProMotion will remain strictly “Pro” features
iPhone 14 Pro vibrating camera
This was first noticed, or at least reported by, YouTuber Luke Miani
In some 3rd party apps the iPhone 14 Pros new OSI in the wide angle camera would freakout and shake. So bad you could see and hear it
The Halide App has been updated with new features to support the new 48MP wide angle sensor on the iPhone 14 Pros
48MP ProRaw support, the ability to quickly switch from 48MP to 12MP capture, manual focus for depth capture, and more.
Can take 48MP processed images straight to HEIC or JPG. Meaning about. 1/25th smaller file size than 48MP ProRAW files. They also capture up to 2.5 times faster
Annoying iOS copy paste alert
A MacRumors reader sent an email about it to Tim Cook and Craig Federighi and received a response from Ron Huang, a senior manager at Apple
He was one of the inventors of the security feature which is intended to requiring that apps ask for permission to access the clipboard, which may have sensitive data.
He’s says what some users are experiencing is “not intended behavior” and that they will get to the bottom of why it’s sometimes misbehaving and issue a fix.
The OS is not meant to be prompting users for paste permission when they explicitly choose the Paste action from the cut/copy/paste action menu.
the protection is meant to kick in if an app attempts to read and paste the contents of the clipboard without implicit consent
In fact, the fix is already out for both the camera OIS “shaking” issue and the copy paste bug.
Apple released iOS 16.0.2 to address both issues along with addressing a few other bugs
Camera may vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some third-party apps on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
Display may appear completely black during device setup
Copy and paste between apps may cause a permission prompt to appear more than expected
VoiceOver may be unavailable after rebooting
Addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced
Apple also already released a firmware update for AirPods Pro 2 which will be arriving in the hands of consumers tomorrow 9/23 (as I record this show)
Firmware version 5A377 replaces version 5A374 which the earbuds have already shipped with.

Here’s the thing… Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 is up to 40/Gbps or at least 20Gbps (vs 5 Gbps for USB 3)
Not everyone’s personal island
Got an email from Jill who is not a fan of the “splotch” (what she’s calling the Dynamic Island)
She’s also not a Notch fan
Points out that she’ll be keeping her wonderful iPhone 8 Plus (which just got a new battery)
Key points she’s a fan of:
The most beautiful iPhone that Apple ever made (in her opinion)
It has smooth, rounded edges, not sharp edges
It has the best UI element that Apple ever took away: the wonderful Home Button. It has Touch ID, which has none of the drawbacks of Face ID
It cunningly conceals the camera and other sensors in an off-screen area called the bezel!
She also points out that thanks to the “bezel” her battery icon can display both the percentage and a visual indication of the battery level. :P
How great is it that you can actually keep a five year old phone and still run the latest OS?
All that said… I have to say I am really enjoying the Dynamic Island on my iPhone 14 Pro.
It’s dumb maybe but I love the new animation for FaceID unlock
It’s also super handy to have a visual indicator for timers right there.
