A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 466. Apple released it’s iPad Air today and I figured I would be doing my usual episode how the release went and talking with new iPad Air owners about how they’re liking the new device. But a funny thing happened on the way to the Apple Store. First Apple changed up how they handled this launch, at least in the US, from an online ordering perspective. So, we’ll talk about that. Second, the radical redesign in the iPad Airs form fact seems to be raising more questions for a lot of you on if you should upgrade and if so which is the right model for you. So we’ll talk to a few folks about how they are dealing with the “What iPad should I buy” question.

Listened to Fridays ‘cast today on the 2 Hour drive to work today. Great show, and I loved the whole dilemma you discussed re which iPad to buy. I had exactly the same issue, and call me a laggard/stingy/mean (delete as appropriate), but I went straight to the refurb store and bought a very reasonably priced wifi 64Gb 3rd Gen. Logic was that I’m quite happy with the 3rd gen for what I do, but now definitely needing the additional memory – for BBC iPlayer and similar TV downloads, plus a growing photo store requirement. It was a really good deal, and means I can hand down my 3rd gen 16Gb to the kids, which they’ll be ecstatic with. Win win all round, and I’ve deferred the issue of Mini vs Air for a few months minimum ! I reckon I won’t be the only one doing the same. Refurb 3rd and 4th Gen iPads will be/probably are, like gold dust.
Great show, great to hear more acknowledgement of the UK listener base, well done to you and the team.
