A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 174. – The news of Greg Christie’s pending retirement from Apple sparked off a debate this past week. 9to5 Mac broke the story and very quickly other stories surfaced to refute some of the “facts” from 9to5’s sources. So, that got me thinking about how Apple’s history gets shaped, formed, and molded. How much is fact and how much is pure storytelling? Does it matter? Ken Ray (Mac OS Ken & Mission Log) joins me to talk about the history, fact, fiction, lore, and legends we create about Apple.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 173. David Morgenstern over at ZDNet wrote this piece pointing to this post on ReadWriteWeb from a former Apple executive who has moved to Windows. Needless to say Mac-fans have responded in droves with varied reactions, including fanboi outrage. This isn’t a new thing and I wish I could say the reaction wasn’t common. The question I have is, aren’t we past this yet?

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 172. Like it or not, if you’re Apple user and you want to deal with media on your devices and Mac at some point you may likely need to deal with iTunes. It began life as a simple MP3 audio player, but is now the hub of the digital media eco-system on the Mac. It’s a beast of a program and one that Apple arguably needs to tame better at some point. Until then I figured I’d look into and share some tips, tricks, and techniques to make using iTunes a bit more bearable.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 169. I have been loading more and more content into my iTunes Library using iVI Pro, but tech geeks I know who are really into this home theater stuff all seem to be big fans of Plex. Plex is more open and available on many platforms, built into NAS devices, and even on set top boxes like the Roku and Chromecast. I thought I should at least give it a try, so this episode dives into my experience and thoughts on setting up a Plex Home Media Server.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 166. – When Apple released the first major update to their iWork suite in over four year I like many of you applauded. During the announcement and demo at Apple’s iPad event the emphasis seems to be on brining feature parity between the Mac, iOS, and iCloud versions of the apps. We now know this was achieved in a big way by reducing the features that many relied on in the current versions of the apps. Because community reaction to the changes has been so strong I thought we should talk about the changes and reactions starting with Pages.
