A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 184. This week Marco Arment wrote a post on his blog titled “Apple has lost the functional high ground” expressed a frustration and concern that many of us in the Apple community have expressed. “Is Apple’s quality slipping?”. Later Marco posted a follow up expressing regrets for the post, but I’m not sure he should have. What he had to say was something many of us have been thinking. Putting it out there opens community discourse and in this episode I talk about my reaction and the reactions of other influencers in our community to this post.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 180. With a bunch of the latest hype on Apple’s iPhone pointing at NFC and payments I’m wondering about a few things. Is Apple going to use NFC for their mobile payments like many think? Why wouldn’t Apple use a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) solution and leverage iBeacons? I think one way to begin to answer that question may be to look at NFC vs. iBeacons in a retail capacity and that’s exactly what we’ll discuss in this episode.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 178. I’ve been thinking a lot about what the rumored iWatch means for the future of Apple. They really are due for the next disruptive product, but is a “smartwatch” really it? If so, why is Apple better poised than any other company to make it work?

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 176. Disaster in one form or another is inevitable especially when it comes to our computers. Technical and non-technical failures are a reality we eventually might have to face. Theft, natural disaster, damage, hard drive or component failure, no matter what failure will come, but it can be less stressful if you plan ahead. In this episode I discuss the potential for different failures with our Macs and how to prepare, manage, and get through them with less frustration.

A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. Episode 175. Reality distortion, if I were able to have a superpower this might be one I want. Most often we hear it associated with Apple and specifically Steve Jobs, but I believe the world has had many reality distorters. I also think that reality distortion might be the wrong word or at least the word is being applied incorrectly. I explore reality distortion. How does it work, what is it, and why do so few have it?
