Network Feud affecting MacCast listeners

Written by: Adam Christianson

I was just made aware that many people are having issues getting the MacCast from Libsyn. Listeners are reporting getting connection failures and timeouts. I was just told this seems to be a symptom of a larger issue. There is currently a battle raging between two tier 1 ISPs (see this cNet article for details) and is is resulting in large Internet “blackouts” for many sites and customers. The major group affected seems to be Earthink and Time Warner Roadrunner customers. If you are unable to get the MacCast your options are to wait it out or Libsyn has been attempting to work around the issue by updating information on their servers. If you would like them to try and route you around the issue you can send your IP address (if you are behind a router they need the IP from the router) to support@libsyn.com. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it is not in my control.

One more thing..Well. It looks like Apple does have some announcement up its sleeve. There is a lot of speculation on the Web that it will be the video iPod. The announcement they sent out (see image) does seem to be a theatre curtian, so maybe. They also could finally announce those new PowerMacs or PowerBooks. Stay tuned.

MacCast mentioned on UK’s ‘The Gadget Show’

Written by: Adam Christianson

This is so cool. I was just told by a listener that the MacCast was mentioned on the latest episode of The Gadget Show on Channel 5 in the UK. I was very excited and flattered to hear the news. Thanks to The Gadget Show and Channel 5 for even considering my show worth the mention, I am honored.

Since I obviously don’t get UK TV here in the States, I would love it if someone could send me a clip of episode.

UPDATE: Thanks to a listener I now have a copy of the segment and a DVD version is on the way. I have asked for permission to post the clip, so as soon as (and if) I get it I will post a link.

New MacCast soon.

Are new Intel Centrino Ads telling us something?

Intel logoThe weekend I saw one of the new Intel Centrino TV Ads and I immediately noticed some things. First the ad featured Tony Hawk and Seal, who are known Mac users. I thought that’s interesting. Then I noticed that they never say the term “PC” in the ad, they only refer to “mobile laptop technology” and then finally the closing screen of the ad had an almost all white look with a very “aqua” like version of the Intel logo. Are they subtlety signaling the arrival of new Intel macs soon? I just needed to share these observations and fan the flames a little.
