VidBit A podcast about all things Macintosh. For Mac geeks, by Mac geeks. VidBit 001. Welcome to the premiere edition of MacCast VidBits. VidBits are short video segments inserted into the feed and will cover subjects relevant to all Mac Geeks. With the introduction of the 5th Gen iPods supporting video I think these segments will be a fun addition to the MacCast. In the inaugural edition we have Mike Caputo from Animation Bureau. He covers the new iPod in depth, showing you all the ins and outs of this new device. I hope you enjoy this new addition to the MacCast and we hope to be bringing you more great content in the future.

  3. Mark | Nov 09 2005 - 11:59

Just wanted to send a personal message of thanks to Mike for his efforts with the MacCast VidBit 001. I really appreciate this episode and I thought Mikes video was clear, informative, professional and fun. I really enjoyed watching and hope he can spare some time for future episodes sometime.

Thanks again, Mike and good luck with Animation Bureau.

Hi Adam, I get an error message after trying to download your latest episode, the one including the video. iTunes says that it is a file that iTunes cannot play. I have iTunes 6.0.1 and the operating system is a little old (Mac OS X 10.2.8). Do I need to upgrade my system to continue listening to your podcast? I hope not. Best regards. PS: I don’t have the new Ipod with video. I have the iPod 20 GB with color display.

I must say I really liked this premier “VidBit”. Concise and overall nice video quality with a good file size.

Are these going to be a once a week thing? Every now and then?

Great Idea for the 100th show. I think that it is great that you are taking the maccast to a new level. I think turning the whole thing into a video would just take up too much space as the podcasts are about 45 minutes long. This is an exelent compromise and good luck

    P.S.
Will This be between all podcasts, once in a while, or what.

    Adam/Mike,
    Awesome! Don’t have a 5gen iPod…yet, but love what I see.
Thanks for an impressive video debut, guys.

The plan is to do these on occasion. I have no set schedule, but I figure when appropriate and I want to keep them as shorts.

  14. rick | Nov 10 2005 - 03:53

if you could produce your videos in mpeg4 format, in addition to the H.264 format, it would be great. Just as they do in CommandN.

  15. Mike Caputo | Nov 10 2005 - 03:41

Thanks so much for all the kind words — I’m really glad everyone seems to like it. I have plans for more, and will deliver as time allows. Special Thanks to Adam, though!! Mike

    Rick,

You don’t need to do anything to continue listening to the podcast if you already can because this was a video only; no podcast at all. Although you have iTunes 6.0.1 (same as me) your older OS seems not to support the H.264 format. You can either upgrade your OS or simply E-mail me (first.last@gmail.com) and I will send you a converted file to a format you can play.

    Hope that helps,

    Matt

This is great, but don’t turn the whole podcast into a vidcast. I have a 5G iPod, and love watching vidcasts on it, but love listning to the MacCast while I am working out. There is no way I can hold my iPod and lift weights at the same time. Same goes for running.
Thanks for this vidcast, but keep the audio MacCast.

Also, if you are having trouble with the feed, unsubscribe and resubscribe to the feed. I have also had trouble with the feed.
