So sorry to hear you’re a Fox News/Nazi Propaganda network consumer Adam. And you came across as being such a good person. Hope to have you back some day.

    Jay

    Jay,
What makes you assume I am a fan or not of Fox News? This was simply an interview with an interesting Mac user who happens to work at Fox News Channel. I don’t remember discussing my TV viewing habits at all, nor do I think they would be relevant anyway. The truth is I really hardly ever consume any “main stream” media. The other truth is that I AM a “good” person. I have friends of all different religious, social, and political beliefs. I am able to have relationships with these people despite and because of our differences in thought. That is one way I measure my integrity. Rest assured I never left anything. My show is a tech show and I have never brought in politics, religion, or anything else in that would distract from my material. This episode is a shining example of my commitment to delivering great content dedicated to technology, Apple, the Mac, and the community surrounding it. I have no regrets or apologies for it.

I have been a listener for a long time (circa 2005) and must admit, I expected a little more common sense. Fox News, a propoganda machine that isn’t able to practice journalism in Great Btitain due to it’s label as such, is little more than a belch in the general direction of common sense. You can talk about “acceptace” and “tech” but when it comes down to it you really just alienated half your audience.

  5. Margot | Feb 01 2009 - 03:16

Also, if it happens twice I’m unsubscribing.

  6. amer | Feb 01 2009 - 05:05

i love mac switcher interviews. I can talk to people about mac when the topic comes up. But it is really neat when they try it out themselves and figure it out.

    great interview..thanks for sharing.

    Amer

p.s. regarding fox news, I don’t have cable so I don’t get fox news or any other cable news channel .. but seriously people grow up. Should be happy that more people are appreciating well engineered products from apple, no matter what political affiliation they have. Let’s practice this thing called tolerance.

  7. Jim Felder | Feb 01 2009 - 01:04

Oh my gosh people! Grow up you’re acting like children!

Adam, I was coming home during a 2 hour drive. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview. I couldn’t wait to get home so I could send you an email/message to let you know how much I enjoyed it. I think it was because I listened to someone “on the outside” come into the Mac Community. I love hearing these switcher stories whether it is on a podcast or just talking to people.

I could care less that he was from FOX or any other place. I just enjoyed listening to a guy that is in mainstream media being able to promote the Mac and convert people.

I’m just baffled by the other comments about how they will quit listening if you have another one of these interviews! WHAT?! Great – move on! No loss here. This a Mac Podcast that talks about Macs. I never heard anything about “Fox News/Nazi Propaganda network consumer”. that is just ridiculous.

Thanks Adam, you always do a great job. Keep it up!

  8. Kia Xtreme | Feb 01 2009 - 04:10

Great interview and guest. Would like it if you kept doing more.

  9. Paul Boyd | Feb 01 2009 - 06:02

Very interesting interview, its always good to here how people move over to the Mac irrespective of any political or personal feelings of that persons job.
It was interesting to listen to views on how media will move forward and possibly become freer in the way it is reported, whether or not that is then transmitted is a different matter. In the UK we are luck to have the BBC, which does most of what Clayton and yourself talked about including watching most if not all BBC programmes streamed over my iPhone or computer and up to the min news streaming. Unfortunately it is only available in the UK!!!!

  10. R. Henriquez | Feb 01 2009 - 07:21

Adam, EXCELLENT interview. So much content and excellent dialogue with a switcher. Please do more! and as a side note, I too am a huge anti-fan of FIXNews and the endless meaning cutsey phrases used by your guest but I’m not going to wig out and hold it against you. Thanks Adam…more interviews!

  11. Mark Dye | Feb 02 2009 - 12:01

    Dear Adam,
I’m sorry to disagree with you, but anybody or anything from Fox “news” is beyond the pale. There are millions of switchers and you picked this one – a very poor choice. To work for Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes is just plain wrong in every sense of the word; it is like sailing for Ahab. That he and Huckabee with now be able to more efficiently spew out their reactionary misinformation and hate is even more depressing. There is a reason why Joe McCarthy or Dick Cheney aren’t on “Think Different” posters and you missed it.

    Mark Dye

  12. j | Feb 02 2009 - 06:55

Hey Adam, great job! This switcher interview was really fun. I can’t believe these hate-filled comments from the Anti-Fox extremists. Adam, please keep doing what you are doing and anyone who wants to stop listening because of this interview, cya!

  13. sea pines rental | Feb 03 2009 - 09:42

    Hi Mark,
Sorry but I think You are wrong!

  14. Margo – San Diego | Feb 03 2009 - 07:43

Wow, I loved the interview! Who cares that he works for Fox or anyone else for that matter – is that a bad thing? What’s wrong with some of your listeners. Open up your minds. I learned so much about different services/programs to use that I haven’t tried yet ie. Evernote and Instapaper just to name a couple that I tried and liked. Clayton rattled off more than I can remember. Enjoyed hearing new ideas. Thanks Adam – I’m a very long time listener (almost from the beginning – I think I only missed the first two or three shows). Keep up the good work!

  15. mattand | Feb 04 2009 - 12:47

    Hey, Adam:

Long time listener, first time poster. Just got done listening to this podcast. Clayton Morris comes off as a genuinely nice guy, and I was really impressed with his grasp on Apple and web technology.

Having said that: while Clayton probably wasn’t involved, the weekday “Fox and Friends” helped push the despicable “Obama’s a Secret Muslim” meme/lie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_and_friends#Controversies). I know that shouldn’t have had an impact on what you guys were talking about, but for me it was always in the back of my mind. IMO, that show is synonymous with unrepentant yellow journalism.

Obviously, it’s your show and you should invite whoever you want. I really did enjoy the interview and both your and Clayton’s enthusiasm really came through. However, hosting someone associated with a program that is, shall we say, factually challenged is going to raise hackles.

  16. Adam Christianson | Feb 04 2009 - 05:57

    Matt,
I appreciate your ability to disconnect the man from the job. I certainly do. To be honest I knew their might be some people who couldn’t see past where Clayton works, but had sincerely hoped it didn’t matter. Obviously it did. My choice to invite him on the show was purely to talk to him about Macs and I felt since the Huckabee story had a bunch of coverage on the Mac blogs there was a nice connection to a recent positive Apple news piece. I don’t understand how, in any way, my having him on the show comes off as an endorsement for Fox News. In my mind it wasn’t. If people want to read more into it then what I have expressed here then there really is nothing I can do about it. I still make no apologies for this interview (actually I think it’s one of my better shows) and I plan to do more shows like this. If someone has an interesting Mac or Apple story to tell I would love to hear it and to share it with you all.

  17. Marilyn | Feb 05 2009 - 04:28

I can’t believe you invited a fake journalist from Fox Noise. You’ve hit a new low Adam, please use some common sense and discretion in the future. He sounded like a superficial dick with nothing important to say.

  18. Matt Agnello | Feb 06 2009 - 01:45

    Hey Adam,

I’m surprised at some of the outrage over this guy. Honestly, I’m not a fan of Fox as place to get unbiased news, but Clayton came off as intelligent and relevant on your show. Other than being pro-Mac, I didn’t detect a spin here, so I’m not sure what everyone else is getting upset about. I think you made the right choice in getting him on; he was a great interview, and really shed some light on how “new” media is being absorbed into the “old” media culture. That contribution far outweighs coming from Fox.

Keep up the great work, Adam.

    // Matt

  19. mattand | Feb 07 2009 - 06:42

    @Marilyn:

How exactly was Morris being superficial? He’s a fan of Lost? He visits his parents in Reading? He lives in NYC? As far as using Apple tech for broadcasting he had plenty to say.

I don’t like Fox News anymore than you but the guy was a Mac user and a recent switcher. He was a polite interviewee and very enthusiastic about the Mac. It was a perfect match for this show.

Look, folks, Maccast is about Macs, not politics. As much as I despise Rush Limbaugh, he’s a Mac user and if Adam had him on the show I’d at least attempt to listen to the interview. At the very least, it would be entertaining to watch the meltdowns on the comment board. Hard as it is sometimes, you have to leave politics at the door.

    Adam,

I really enjoyed the interview with Clayton Morris. Thank- you for doing such a great job.

  21. Jason | Feb 17 2009 - 01:39

    Adam,

This was one of your best shows and I have been listening to you since episode 30 or earlier. I found it “educational” how media broadcasters are using both Macs and technology in general – regardless of their network affiliation. And what I really loved was both the “macro” philosophical (big picture) ideas as well as the detail nitty gritty for getting the job done with excellence. This is why I listen to you every week – and I really hope to hear more of these interviews in the future. Keep up the good work.

A long time listener but first time poster.

    Jason

  22. Thomas Sappie | Feb 17 2009 - 02:29

    Adam,
Wow. I am shocked at the immaturity of people who would actually stop listening to your podcast over this interview. I have lost a little respect for mac users and their IQ levels. Maybe just to be fair and impartial you should have Keith Oberman from MSNBC on your next show.
(Wait, doesn’t the MS stand for Microsoft, now that would be a real conflict.) Who really cares about a persons political view on a Mac show. Last time i check computers still can’t register to vote as republican or democrat. Thank God or whatever you feel is politically correct to thank.
    Your the best.

  23. mike ramsey | Apr 09 2009 - 06:36

wow! enjoyed the interview, keep up the good work.

  24. san diego happy hour | May 14 2009 - 03:49

Hey Adam, just wanted to say thanks for the great interview. I think you have made your defense of your interview very clearly and well thought out. These people that still are holding it against you or proclaiming that you support Fox politics, they are ignorant. It was an interesting interview on Macs and it is nice to get to hear from someone that you otherwise wouldnt really care to hear from. Keep the good ones coming!

  25. Tracy D | Jun 06 2009 - 06:10

Great interview, no matter what the politics of the commentators on whatever channel he works for. Thanks!

  26. Callie Edwards | Jun 20 2009 - 10:36

LOL! I’m mature enough to listen to Apple news even if the interview is with someone from CNN or the other liberal channels.

Great interview! I found this site due to of a Clayton search. I’m a FOX NEWS addict because I appreciate the truth–good or bad.

    Keep up the good work!

  27. Seo Singapore | Jun 28 2009 - 11:37

I’m just amazed that even non geeks like Clayton could be so tech savvy.

Good switch Clayton! Glad to see another new Mac convert.
